Improve or move? Update to sell? or Make your new house your home!

There are a lot of buzz words and phrases these days, improve or move, update to sell and make your new house your home are just a selection. For most people the kitchen is the heart of the home and the trend for open plan, exciting and inclusive kitchens continues. At Billingham Kitchens we’re here to help with all of them.

Improve or move;

Improving your home can be a daunting task and many people look at selling their house and finding another that fits their needs. This too can be difficult and expensive so sometimes the idea to turn the house you’re in, into the house you’d like it to be. We can show you what your kitchen could look like if you did “take that wall out” and we can also tell you how much it’s all likely to cost. When it comes to the project itself, in most cases we can take care of everything, from taking the wall out and all the preparation work, plastering, electrics, etc. to installing the kitchen. We offer a huge range of kitchens, granite, quartz and Corian worksurfaces and big name appliances at competitive prices, everything you need to make your dream kitchen.

Update to sell;

If you think that your kitchen could be the reason that your house isn’t selling then it’s definitely worth looking at refreshing it. Replacing the doors to your kitchen could be less than a £1,000 and in many cases replacing doors, worktops and a new sink and tap is just £2-3,000 and often the work only takes a couple of days. We can give approximate estimates from your sizes or we can call out to measure it for ourselves and give you an accurate […]

Ian Goodwillie retires

Ian Goodwillie, a renowned businessman, whose name is synonymous with home makeovers and self-voiced radio ads, has retired after 30 years of serving the North.

Ian Goodwillie, who regularly featured in ad campaigns with his son Frazer from 1991 for Court Homemaker, is stepping down leaving his latest venture in safe hands.

Ian sold the family business but came out of retirement three and a half years ago to launch the new kitchens business with Frazer, which they have both worked tirelessly to build.

Frazer said: “Watching my dad being so passionate about the North East and home improvements certainly inspired me and I am proud to be carrying on this family legacy.”

His new business, Billingham Kitchens, specialises in bespoke and project managed installations continuing the one-stop-shop ethos associated with his family name.

These values have seen operations grow significantly and to take the business to the next step a former colleague, Paul Cook, has joined Frazer’s team.

Frazer said: “Paul has nearly 20 years’ experience at two of the biggest names in home improvement in the area and we are very pleased that he has accepted a role with us.

“We might just be a small business in Billingham but with Paul here and his vast design and customer service experience people can see we are taking it seriously.”

Paul added: “Frazer and I have the same ethos when it comes to helping customers achieve their dream home improvement. We believe in offering a personal level of service that is not found enough in the industry and to help customers through the sometimes bewildering range of products to help them choose what’s right for them.”

Each kitchen may require as many as 20 different elements, including suppliers and tradesmen. Frazer and […]

Simply Burbidge

We have just updated one of our displays to show the new Finsbury Putty from the Simply Burbidge range.

The Simply Burbidge range comprises three doors in three colours, Finsbury, Barnes and Kew all available in Alabaster, Putty and Light Grey.

The Simply Burbidge range is all made in the UK and all three doors are in stock in all three colours, so you don’t have to wait the usual 4 weeks for a painted timber door. They also represent a cost saving of 25-30% versus a typical painted timber door and the colours have been carefully selected so that matching cabinet material is available, eliminating the need for expensive painted end panels.

At Billingham Kitchens, we’re all for products made in the UK especially when they make the kitchen more affordable to you and more convenient to us.

To get a quote on a Simply Burbidge kitchen call us on 01642 550909 or call in to the showroom on Mill Lane, Billingham and make an appointment for a home survey.

Burbidge Stowe light grey

Burbidge Stowe Light Grey featuring Aura (Dekton from Cosentino) solid surface worktops.
A beautifully simple, yet effective, shaker style door in a modern and light colour with a stunning and very hard wearing worktop.
This new display is the first in a series of showroom updates which will see some brand new designs and materials to the showroom.

Stowe has a smooth, lacquered paint finish that’s durable and easy to clean. When you see the door for yourself you will  also see that it does not have the same “dirt trap” inherent in most shaker doors. The slightly more modern feel to it also makes it a great partner to edge handles (handles which fit to the edge of the door, rather than drilled into the door) which create a more streamlined, fuss free look.

Available in porcelain and light grey from stock or painted to order in 3-4 weeks it’s a versatile door and more budget friendly than solid wood.

Dekton from Cosentino is unfortunately not so budget friendly, sitting right at the top end of luxury worktops. For more information on Dekton please check out their website, as its much too technical to get into here. To get the same look for less we would suggest one of the new slimline laminate worktops.

Call in to the showroom on Mill Lane,  Billingham to see this display for yourself and follow the progress of our other updates.

Egger kitchen worktops

At Billingham Kitchens we are always seeking to offer the latest in products, designs and finishes and we are happy to now be offering some stunning new Egger kitchen worktops.

Egger are one of the , if not the, leading sheet material manufacturer(s) with a great history of quality and innovation. Almost all of our kitchens are made from their excellent 18mm board often giving us perfect colour matches to the kitchen doors and we are pleased to be able to offer their worktops to complement them.

Their brochure is one of the best I’ve read, offering great advice on materials and colours which work together well or contrast and the quality of the worktops lives up to the brochure. With 4.1 metre lengths at just £150 they also offer great value for money.

Call in to the showroom on Mill Lane, Billingham to take a look at the Brushed Concrete that we have just put on display as well as samples of the full range.

Curved kitchen units

This stunning Malmo, white gloss, handleless kitchen really shows off the charm of curved kitchen units, allowing for a smooth flow of units all the way round this u-shape kitchen and finishing of the ends.

The white gloss makes the kitchen seem much larger and brighter and the Silver Paradiso granite provides both contrast and character, with the stunning grain which courses through it. Granite is a great kitchen worksurface for various reasons, the shaping, the durability, but often most important is the uniqueness and beauty that a natural product can bring. This kitchen also features upstands and window cills in the matching granite and an undermount sink with curved drainer grooves.

Integrated appliances help to make the whole kitchen have a much more streamline look, hiding away the dishwasher and washing machine and putting the oven and combination microwave at accessible heights. This kitchen also features a pull out larder, used in conjunction with the oven housing to house the American fridge freezer, induction hob and modern black glass extractor.

All preparation work was coordinated and project managed by us; removing the kitchen, plastering the walls and leveling the floor, preparing the electrics including ceiling lights, then the full installation of the kitchen and tiling the floor.

This is a beautiful kitchen, showing off some of the great features of Malmo and will be a very practical kitchen to work in as well as easy to maintain which are often the key features our customers are looking for.

If you are looking for a company to carry out a complete kitchen project then why not come and see us, I’m sure you’ll be pleased you did.

New display coming soon

New display coming soon

With new styles and colours being launched to meet the trends and needs of customers, we have to constantly monitor our showroom displays to make sure they cover the most popular as well as indicating the breadth of the range available.

With that in mind we will be replacing the Erin natural oak display with Stowe light grey as the demand for oak is low and painted doors and the colour grey are very in demand. Stowe is essentially a classic shaker door but the slight bevel detail around the centre panel and the smooth finish give it a very contemporary look. It was originally launched last year in just two colours, porcelain and light grey which are available “off the shelf”, but it is now offered in the full painted colour pallette.

To bring the latest in innovation to you, we will be pairing this with a new Dekton worksurface from Cosentino, makers of Silestone, in a stunning Calacatta marble effect and featuring upstands and a Silestone undermount sink.

The new display will showcase the latest in designs, colours and materials and could be just the inspiration you need to set you on the journey into a beautiful new kitchen.

Keep an eye out for pictures of the finished project and by all means call in to see how its coming along for yourself.

New door style – Matfen

New door style Matfen

We’re happy to tell you about the new door style Matfen, now available in our made to measure vinyl range. It is essentially a classic, shaker door but has a little bevel detail around the centre, adding a more contemporary look, much like the Marlow and Stowe doors from Burbidge which are very popular.

We are pleased to be able to offer this style, made to measure and in a wide range of colours, including the new woodgrain colours, recently added to the range. White, light grey and graphite join Ivory, Mussel and Dakar in the selection of woodgrain finish doors which give the kitchen a quality feel of natural wood but with in a more durable and easy maintenance way.

As we find made to measure doors essential in most of our kitchen refreshes, having more styles and colours to offer gives our customers greater choice and gives them the kitchen they want without the extra cost and time involved in a complete refit.

So whether you want a complete new kitchen or just to update it with new doors, worktops, or appliances call us on 01642 550909 or come to the showroom on Mill Lane in Billingham and see the range of options available.
